Modern universities rely increasingly on communication technologies for the educational processes and the management of academic databases. In the paper “Software Application for Disabled Students” the researchers Laszlo Csiki, Andrei Gabor, Marius Popescu, and Antoanela Naaji present the methodology of a software application for android users named “Virtual University”. This virtual platform allows each student to connect in real time with the secretariat of the university, pay their educational fees and dues online and also access online courses and grades.Login screen and menu of the Android app
Technology led to the development of applications that can replicate very closely real-life situations and using this platform may lead to an improvement in the quality of life, particularly for people with disabilities, which, according to a press release by the National Authority for People with Disabilities within the Ministry of Labour and Social Justice, amount a number of 784,527 persons.
Another benefit is that by virtual connection the expenses on transportation and the companions of students with special needs can be reduced, providing them the flexibility to interact with their classmates and professors by themselves.
The design of the application is faily simple: starting the application displays the logging window, where each student can log in to the platform using personal data. Further, they’re directed to the menu which comprises the following sections: Student Data, Grades, Financial, Announcements, and My messages.
In summary, it can be stated that the application is simple, user-friendly and delivers satisfactory results in academic communication.
