As years pass, the importance of Artificial Intelligence grows at a fast pace. The evolution of this concept is being presented to the readers in Ángel Garrido’s upcoming paper, titled Brain and AI. Starting with the historical origins of this scientific field at the Darmouth Conference in 1956, the famous Turing test, the Strong vs. Weak AI discussion, the Chinese Room argument etc., and proceeding with projects such as Blue Brain Project, the central purpose of AI has always been to create an admissible model for human knowledge.
The Blue Brain Project is being briefly described by Garrido as an initiative to build an artificial copy of the mammalian brain by using an IBM supercomputer with ten thousand processors. Just like in aeronautics, the tool will be able to understand what happens in the brain during dysfunctional situations, and may try different behaviors.Blue Brain Project
After presenting the future of neuroscience as quantum computing, which could be the next technology to transform our world, the author approaches the new applications of Fuzzy Logic. He defines the Fuzzy Rules as a set of overlapping patches that relate a full range of inputs to a full range of outputs. In that sense, the fuzzy system approximates some mathematical function or equation of cause and effect. While describing the concept of Fuzzy Logic, Fuzzy Modeling is introduced as being used frequently to transform the knowledge of an expert into a mathematical model. The emphasis is on constructing a fuzzy expert system that replaces the human expert. A fuzzy model represents the real system in a form that corresponds closely to the way humans perceive it, and research about it continues to advance in the leading countries.
One of the most outstanding applications of the new branches of AI and Robotics are the investigations carried out under the direction of Prof. Dr. Manuella Kadar, with a view to the automation of the industrial processes of ceramic production, in the region of Transylvania.
